[Podcast] Data recovery following a ransomware attack – Databack was at NoLimitSecu
Attacks by ramsomware or ransomware indiscriminately affect companies, local authorities, healthcare establishments… They provoke crisis situations and have serious consequences: loss of sensitive data, business interruption, financial losses, loss of confidence, brand image damage…
Samuel DurandCTO and co-founder of Databack, was invited by NoLimitSecu to talk about data recovery after a ransomware attack, and to remind us that solutions do exist!
After ransomware: informing and raising awareness
NoLimitSecu is an independent podcast dedicated to cybersecurity, hosted by enthusiasts involved in corporate IT security. Their invitation was an opportunity for Databack to reiterate good IT practices, in terms of backups, data protection and responding to ransomware.
As at the end of each year, a privileged time for cybercriminals, we have seen a significant increase in ransomware attacks. Unfortunately, data recovery services are still little-known among companies and public authorities affected by ransomware. Our aim is to show that there are alternatives to paying ransom and restarting operations from scratch or from obsolete backups.
Our remediation solutions for ransomware attacks
Samuel Durand’s talk at NoLimitSecu was therefore an opportunity to raise awareness of our data recovery service following a ransomware attack. He lifts the veil on our methods, explaining why attacks cannot encrypt all targeted IS (except in rare cases) and how encrypted production data can be restored.
It also reminds us of good IT practices and the importance of preventive measures, in particular the golden rule of 3-2-1 backup:
- Make 3 regular copies of your data,
- on 2 different storage media (NAS, external hard drive…)
- as well as on 1 external, off-site backup medium (cloud, remote server, etc.).
- To which we add this rule: one of the backups must have an air gap…
Listen, share the Databack podcast at NoLimitSecu, and tell your partners, customers and your assigned CSIRT to find out more about our service to respond to ransomware attacks, recover data and help restore your IS.
Databack has an emergency cell and is authorized to handle sensitive data (confidentiality clauses, RGPD compliance, ZRR laboratory).
