How do I recover data from my computer?

Fixed and mobile workstations cover all common IT tools: PCs and desktops, laptops, local hard drives (HD).

In the event of data loss, however, specialized technologies or specific situations raise additional challenges:

In most cases, recurring symptoms may indicate data loss: blue screen, error message on startup, hard disk not recognized by Bios, missing or corrupted files and folders…

Detect the causes of data loss on your computer

Any operation to recover lost computer data depends on the circumstances of the loss.

In addition to the risks of “generic” incidents, there are also specific risks at the origin of breakdowns:

  • Disasters : flooding, fire, electrical damage (lightning, power surges, etc.)
  • Malicious acts or software : viruses, cryptolocker, ransomware, hacking…
  • Vulnerability linked to digital nomadism (mobile computers): fall, shock, vibration…
  • Unintentional manipulation : accidental deletion of data, formatting, hard disk repartitioning, data forgotten during reinstallation, etc.
  • Hardware failures : power or battery problems, power surges, file or software corruption, operating system malfunctions…

If youdon’t have a backup , or if it’s not kept up to date, any loss or alteration of data is detrimental to the user: office files, customer data, project files, e-mails, accounting, photos, personal data… all of this is important, even sensitive, information. In a professional context, their loss can have a major impact on the company’s business.

Contact a laboratory specializing in computer data recovery

In most scenarios, recovering data from your computer requires the right actions. In the event of a logical, mechanical or electronic failure, we recommend that you do not perform any operations, cease all use of the computer and do not attempt any intervention yourself, as this could result in the permanent loss of all data.

In case of doubt, we recommend that you contact a laboratory specializing in data recovery from any media.

Our Databack teams have the expertise and technology to decrypt or recover data from most fixed and mobile workstations. This covers not only “classic” computer systems, but also Apple operating systems, SSD disks and Flash memories.
